Out of curiosity, I was taking a look at JW Defense’s email channel, in the Discussion section.
One poster said: That article read in context is saying that the churches failed their privilege of being a prophet of God. But Jehovah's Witnesses didn't. If the 1972 WT is read with context then we can realize JW's are the Prophet of God and not Christendom, they had their chance.
JW Defense says: Keep in mind that in that article, when the word 'prophet' is used in reference to the witnesses, its always in quotations. ( "" ) Thus indicating that their use of the word 'prophet' when applied to the witnesses is used in a Quasi sense, a meaning to the word different from the original meaning.
Here it is shown that the word prophet is hijacked, redefined and incorporated into the loaded langauge. As the Channel of God, the Watchtower can have the authority of a prophet as God's mouthpiece, but when the truth of the false predictions and changing doctrines come to light, they can say, "Oh, but we are not a prophet in that sense." By being Quasi-prophets, the Watchtower can have all the perks, without the accountability. The best of both worlds.
Is the Watchtower a Prophet? Jesus said, "Let your Yes mean Yes and your No, No. Anything beyond this comes from the wicked one." Either someone is a prophet or they are not.
