JWs are Quasi-prophets. The best of both worlds!

Out of curiosity, I was taking a look at JW Defense’s email channel, in the Discussion section.

One poster said: That article read in context is saying that the churches failed their privilege of being a prophet of God. But Jehovah's Witnesses didn't. If the 1972 WT is read with context then we can realize JW's are the Prophet of God and not Christendom, they had their chance.

JW Defense says: Keep in mind that in that article, when the word 'prophet' is used in reference to the witnesses, its always in quotations. ( "" ) Thus indicating that their use of the word 'prophet' when applied to the witnesses is used in a Quasi sense, a meaning to the word different from the original meaning.

Here it is shown that the word prophet is hijacked, redefined and incorporated into the loaded langauge. As the Channel of God, the Watchtower can have the authority of a prophet as God's mouthpiece, but when the truth of the false predictions and changing doctrines come to light, they can say, "Oh, but we are not a prophet in that sense." By being Quasi-prophets, the Watchtower can have all the perks, without the accountability. The best of both worlds.

Is the Watchtower a Prophet? Jesus said, "Let your Yes mean Yes and your No, No. Anything beyond this comes from the wicked one." Either someone is a prophet or they are not.

Meanings of words slip and slide whilst their teachings flip and flop.

    quasi-prefix: quasi-

    1.
    apparently but not really; seemingly.
    "quasi-American"
synonyms: supposedly, seemingly, apparently, allegedly, reportedly, professedly, ostensibly, on the face of it, to all appearances, on the surface, to all intents and purposes, outwardly, superficially, purportedly, nominally, by one's/its own account, on paper

So according to that they are "not really" prophets . Allegedly - superficially, professedly.......... I could accept that.

The key is how the JW mind processes this. Are they prophets? They can say yes AND no. Yes when it’s convenient, no, when it’s not.

Where in the Bible does it convey the idea of a quasi-prophet? If there used to be prophets in times past, and survival is dependent on identifying the GB as God’s one and only Channel and the lives of seven billion people are at stake, why would God not simply use prophets and not quasi-prophets?

BluesBrother >>> quasi = "apparently but not really"

    .

So, then, basically they are fake prophets. No wonder, all those many failed predictions.

    proph•et (ˈprɒf ɪt)

    n.

    1. a person who speaks for God or a deity, or by divine inspiration. 2. (in the Old Testament) a. a person chosen to speak for God and to guide the people of Israel. b. (often cap.) one of the Major or Minor Prophets. 3. one of a class of persons in the early Christian church recognized as inspired to utter special revelations and predictions. 1 Cor. 12:28. 4. the Prophet, Muhammad, the founder of Islam. 5. a person regarded as, or claiming to be, an inspired teacher or leader. 6. a person who foretells the future. 7. a person who speaks for some doctrine, cause, or movement. I mean I don't think its a very honest use of the word on their part, however number 7 on the definitions above could certainly apply to JW's without having to twist much.

Definition #7 can always be the fallback and on the lips of a JW in making a defense, but truly in the heart, they hold to Definition #1. Simultaneously, both concepts are in play.

    An uninspired spirit-directed true prophet.

It reminds me of: "I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV."
