If you got caught by the elders, say smoking, and they d/f you would you tell them about being "apostate"? I mean honestly, if they want to "take me down", I would rather go out, with them knowing I think it is all bull. Did any of you that are d/f for some petty wtbs interpretation of sin, decide to tell them about what you beleive since learning the real truth about the wtbs?

I wouldn't say a thing. I would fake repentance to avoid being DF'd. Then, after they had lifted restriction, I would take leave.

If the decision is to DF, and there is no hope of stopping the DF, I am not sure what I would do ... but if I had an dirt on them, especially a known child molester ... I would just simply go to the police and the media.

If I had no dirt on them, and I couldn't avoid the DF, but had a few days before it was announced, I would contact every friend I had and explain my side of the story ... and mail out to the rest a single page simply stating how to find goo Web Sites, where to order Crisis of Conscience etc.

Forget telling the Elders anything ... treat them as having no force or effect in your life. Spread information to non-Elders. Most will toss out what you send ... but some few, even if for that brief window of time, will think ... and had they not received what you sent, they might not be in a position again for a while to think.

I do not mean that counter-witnessing to JWs is our personal responsibility ... for it is not. I am thinking in practical terms, that if each time a JW left the religion, they could use their opportunities ... the impact would be just that much more noticeable.

I wouldn't tell them and try to stay inside the organisation. Not that I am chicken, but I think, for undermining and changing an organisation, there need to be 'undercover agents' inside the organisation, that's the point where you can make the most damage.
What can be better then to be a witness and spread the REAL TRUTH.

I spent the first year of my DF'd life trying to get back into the WTS. I knew it was only because I missed my "friends". Now I look back and kind of laugh but at the time it was very painful. I knew it was all bullshit then but I just wanted to go with the flow. It's all up to you man. If you think you can help more people out of the JW by staying in and that is what you care about then stay. If you're just tired of their obvious BS then leave and laugh to yourself sadly everytime you see one of them out preaching.

Dear Lord, please save me from your followers.

What's the point of telling them you think it's a load of BS? Don't waste your energy...

Back when I was caught and reprimanded the only thing that kept me from telling them to go to hell was that I didn't want to hurt my mother. Course I just delayed what was inevitable as it turned out.
