I must say that Crisis of Conscience is the first book I have actually read by an ex-DUB. Unlike the society would have us believe, it is not a necessity to read "twisted words" in order to see the light. ok, I found the first couple of chapters hard going, but in general, I am learning something new or fascinating each couple of pages I read. I'm sure Ray Franz will not mind if I quote this one paragraph which amazed me:

It was not until after Rutherford's death in 1942 that a change was made regarding the year 606 BCE as the starting point for the 2520 years. Strangely, the fact that 2520 years from 606 BCE actually leads to 1915 CE and not 1914 CE was not acknowledged or dealt with for over 60 years.

Then quietly, the starting point was moved back one year to 607 BCE, allowing for the retention of the year 1914 CE as the ending point for the 2520 years. No historical evidence had come forward to indicate that the destruction of Jerusalem had occurred a year earlier than believed. The organisation's desire to retain 1914 as a marked date pointed to by them for so many years (something they had not done with 1915) dictated moving Jerusalem's destruction back one year, a simple thing to do - on paper.

Ray appologises for appearing to be sarcastic elsewhere in the book. Don't you just love it?

I just wondered, is anyone else reading this or has done so and found it interesting?

Yes, I have done so and still find it interesting!

Thanks for posting this information but for crying out loud Ball's, just type and don't worry about the lack of response!

'If you write it...they will come'. After all, look what happened to Harold Robbins.

Yes, I read it and found it fascinating. I found his discussion about how the GB made decisions, and how Ray had reservations about many things that were done, to be most enlightening. They don't run any differently than a large business or government agency, with all the flaws inherent in a very large organization.

When you re-read books like this it's amaznig how many things you missed the first time round.

have you read Christian Freedom yet? Lots more stuff in that!
