bchapp You're so much smarter than the majority of us! You looked before you leaped.....congratulations! Well, we were smart, we just didn't look with open eyes.

I wouldn't say I'm smarter, I just was lucky to have a better "gauge". My mom was a teacher, my dad a biologist. They taught me to think independently, ask question, and if something doesn't feel right, it's probably not. When I submitted my first post on this board expressing my doubts Ozzie backed this up. He? said "listen to your heart"
When I was younger I "worked" in our local church nursery, taking care of the babies. When there weren't any, I'd attend the service so I got to know the people pretty well. Several years later I was in a "near-fatal" car accident. I was given a (GASP) life saving blood tranfusion. Well, one of the ladies in that church started a prayer chain, they sent me flowers, the Pastor came and visited me and brought little gifts and cards from the Sunday School children.
What if I had been a JW?, either I would have died, or had I gone against the "teachings" I would have become and outcast. Not once did the people of that church say "You have to become a member of our church, and attend our services every Sunday. No their message was "We love you, get well. What would the JW message have been?
I can't even imagine the how difficult it is for JW's that don't have a "gauge" like I did, to know what's right. And to think I almost fell for their crap.

Well, I will comment. Your statements are such that don't really require a reply. I am sure we all agree with what you said.

You said it well, and I agree too. I have heard similar things, and am glad you didn't succumb to the JW stuff.

Yes your observations are so true and I think many who have broken away from Jehovah's Witnesses were strengthened by memories of loving concern and the good example of those we were later taught to view under such "abstract " symbols as : Worldlings ; Unbelievers ; Materialistic; False Worshippers etc. Your post shows real insight and appreciation of how J.W. children are handicapped by a belief system that they did not choose.
