Is this letter legitimate? I've received letters from the WTBTS before.....and the outline (file numbers, stamped signature, etc.) is correctly done.
But! The indication of what is said is horrible - is this letter authentic?

Let us not think for one minute that this person's past will not be revealed to the members of the elder's family and the other congregation elite. I'm sure he'll work doubly hard to ensure that his little Becky-Sue not be touched or even sit next to the pedophile with a past.

There is no indication of what sex or age his victims were. The interesting part is that the WTBTS directly told the elders to have absolute confidentiality about the matter - not ever speaking about his past crimes - less they hurt the credibility of this man and his wife. Where did his wife come into this anyway?
And btw, wouldn't the elders be guilty under law of harboring a criminal....or would they claim clergy/confessional privledge?
Of course, the WT did say that he shouldn't have *extra* privledges, so at least he didn't become a pioneer, ms, or elder.....just your average, smiling, publisher conducting Bible studies with strangers in their homes. Comforting to know.
I was under the impression (through Awake! articles) that jw's strongly encouraged people with criminal pasts to report themselves to the authorities so that they could come to Jehovah with a "clean conscience" BEFORE baptism.
