The Sunday after I wrote my DA letter, I visited a local Lutheran church. I enjoyed the service, it was very beautiful, and I have been back several times.
After the service, a woman came up and started talking to me. We ended up chatting for about 1 1/2 hours. I told her how I had left the WT and all. She was very sympathetic, as she is an ex-fundy, and a lesbian Christian, so she's taken some pretty hard knocks in life herself. We ended up spending the rest of the day together. She now has become my best friend. She is exactly what I needed when I was leaving the WT. Thank you God, you are good.
You are at a very vulnerable point in your life. Take care not to jump from the fryingpan into the fire. Maybe a break from all organized religion would help you to see the bigger picture more clearly.
Trevor: Evangelical Lutheranism is very liberal, as opposite of dubbism as you can imagine. No legalism, no pressure, just a pretty service on Sundays. Believe me, my dub experience was the ultimate education on dysfunctional religion. And I'm learning more every day. I can't believe how much I put my brain on hold during my dub years. Even though the dubs (and a whole lot of other churches) have made a mockery of Jesus, I still am holding on to the idea that there was something special about that God-man. Blind faith, I guess, since I wasn't there, and who knows how accurate the gospel accounts are.
Borgfree: I have talked on the phone with Cal a few times, I'm hoping to meet him this weekend. I've also talked to the Spanglers and have been out to their house. Jan rocks! Gotta love her.
