Poor, confused sheepies!

  As an actively inactive person who attends meetings pretty regularly, I have made an observation that would be comical if it weren't so pathetic.

  Between the Watchtower Study and the weekly Bible Study ( which is actually a book study, but don't tell anyone) I have noticed the witnesses being urged to have love among themselves and reach out to nes who may be weaker or having difficulties. So, within the next week or two there is a general warming-up toward me, a friendly phone call from my assigned field service group overseer, a hike across the auditorium by the COBOE to ask how I'm doing, etc.

  Then comes the WT article, now and then, that mentions how dangerous bad associations can be, even from among those in the congregation! (Gasp!) And instantly, there is barely even politeness to be found towards me.

  I guess I'm the guy they practice on.

  Truly scizophrenic - and it wouldn't occur to any of them that they are engaging in inconsistent conduct because they let the organisation do the thinking for them

  Steven Hassan talks about fringe members of a cult. So there is the cult ritual of love bombing then shunning the fringe member in order to get rid of them or light a fire to make them more productive for the cult.

  Stillin, you may be seen as a weak brother and then a bad association in quick succession. This may appear to be a paradox, but in fact it is a strategy to make the ill, and physically weak become more depressed and leave so they are not a burden on the cong, and also for healthy fit ones to become more active in the preaching work.

  It's quite revealing this has to be an official "reminder".

  This demonstrates clearly that the "warming up" you received was nothing more than JWs following orders. It was not genuinely motivated action from their hearts.

  Such is the astonishingly superficial culture that is Jehovah's Witnesses.

  They are mentally/emotionally unbalanced people being preyed upon by other mentally/emotionally unbalanced and possibly evil people. As you say, they are so confused. They run to and fro like keystone cops. In a sick and sad way, it is hilarious.

  Been there done that , got the T shirt . you make spiritual progress only if you agree with the WTBTS every bit , there's no room for debate , just sit there and tell them how greatful you are even if they make 180 degree changes in their stand on various topics and you were right to question it even if you did . I was told to start my own religion if I didn't toe the line ,, bunch of sick control freaks

  Ditto here for me! I went from 'esteemed elder' to a 'truth teller' and for that the brothers and sisters kinda keep their distance.

  Ro. 9:1 "I am telling the truth in Christ; I am not lying, since my conscience bears witness with me in holy spirit,"

  2 Cor. 4:2 "but we have renounced the underhanded things of which to be ashamed, not walking with cunning, neither adulterating the word of God, but by making the truth manifestrecommending ourselves to every human conscience in the sight of God."

  Galatians 4:16 " Well, then, have I become YOUR enemy because I tell YOU the truth?"
