It was quite interesting to see the conversationn take place. The nearly 70 year old widowed sister is raising her son's two children, one is 5 and extremely difficult as she was born hooked on drugs. The baby is also very tiresome on an older woman to deal with daily. The mother o fthe children is in prison. Her son is the father, and is completely irresponsible.
My husband asked his mom about how her best friend is doing. She told him she is worn out taking care of the kids all the time with no breaks, He looked puzzled and concerned and asked did the friends ever help her out with sitting for her or anything? Nope, said his Mom. He then tried to find a logical solution for his mind. He asked why they didn't help and his mother said because the 5 year old is super difficult. He asked if her friend would even allow someone to watch her if asked. His Mom said no because the 5 year old was so difficult. Now this seemed to satisfy my husband somewhat. But I do believe it was a planted seed of the truth abut the lack of loving the congregation has. This explaination is really pretty lame. I even offered more than once to help this woman out via my MIL. I am not sure the offer was ever extended. Puzzling and infuriatiing at the same time.
