I had this conversation with a JW relative. He said when he was out in service one day the elder he was with came to a door of a minister who just purchased the churh in his area for ooooooh 12 mil maybe? And the elder asked him how he liked being a commodity...Bold. The househokder seemed confused. Anyways so basically he was imolying thatbthe man was swindled because the man who recieved the money made a lot? Not sure.

So i asked him "how is this any different than the WT selling a bunch of properties in brooklyn with a HUGEpayout?"

he said: "well this is differen because the money returned to the organization to be redistributed

so it it the same? I dont see the difference....

Jws are a exploitive commodity within themselves by the

Watchtower Publishing house, always have been really.

    .

The Watchtower makes and creates the lies and the JWS spread them about to the public.

The church prob. has a vestry with power to set mission. A group of lay ministers elected by church members in annual elections. The minister's power to use the money would most likely be constrained by what goals the priests/ministers/laity chose. I know that we were shocked when the cathedral towers which were not finished b/c WWII was declared, were designated to be finished. Plenty was said about a cure for AIDS and housing availability being more important than aesthetic concerns. Many members refused to purchase memorial stones for the towers and contributed the same sum to substantive programs for humans in the present. The WT has no process for airing concerns.

I imagine any regular at a normal church knows the discussions about mission. Vestry members always seemed interested in what I had to say. One thing I notice about mainstream churches is that they have a healthy capacity for self mockery. People laugh so hard at denominational jokes. I've never seen Witnesses laughing at their own processes or language. Witnesses are not flawed humans, according to Witnesses.

What an idiotic comment. WT will take that money and use it to benefit only WT. How does that qualify as "redistributed"? Of course, this elder is only making an assumption....since WT has zero transparency when it comes to its finances, JWs have no clue where those profits will go and how they'll be used.

How would he know that the money is returned to the organization? They could be using the money for other things, like paying victims of child abuse cases. NBC reported that they payed $781,250 for one person. Plus, in Southern California they're having memebers now pay for property and for building new kingdom halls out of their own pockets

Don't active Witnesses have a responsibility to monitor the fiscal policies of the WT? I think so. No one knows where the money goes. The Bible shows stewardship. Just giving money is not stewardship. Does a CPA monitor the books? There are about fifty questions I could ask.

Even if the organization was more holy than though, the Elder was not being Christian in speaking so disrespectfully to the Minister. Shame on him.
