According to the CO’s service talk this week to a local congregation, a Southern California circuit is being disbanded, its congregations dispersed to other circuits. As I was not there and did not hear his comments first-hand, I have no further information. I doubt, however, that being there would’ve yielded much more in the way of info as I am told that, naturally, he gave no reason(s) and simply reported that this circuit would be acquiring two additional congregations while a currently-assigned one would be moving to another circuit.
While shuffling congregations among circuits is not an extraordinary occurrence here, dissolving one altogether that draws from its many urban communities is. In the past it has always been the case here that you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a JW. Things, apparently, are changing.
Do you have any idea what vicinity is being affected? Approximately?
This is very interesting to me as I am in Southern California.
Whenever we drive by the "new" Mira Loma Assembly Hall it is rarely full, usually only 1/3 to 1/2 the parking spaces are being used. I remember when it was being built it was being circulated that it was needed because the "Society was expecting a great increase bla bla bla... therefore fork over the dough....honor Jehovah with your unrighteous riches, etc."
What a waste of $$$ when the Norco Assembly Hall is only 10 minutes away from Mira Loma and it's rarely full as well.
It's all such a sad joke. Unfortunately, it's the publishers who pay.
However, why should the WTBTS care how many assembly halls they build, they certainly don't pay for them. They can and do however sell them for a nice and tidy profit! What a nice scam. Remind me to start a cult someday ...
