I just noticed that the movie Noah has been officially rated PG-13 in the US. Now all of the JWs who were waiting anxiously to see if they could go see it will flock to see the movie. I have heard a couple JWs say "I hope it isnt rated R so I can go see it". Now we have to endure their nit-picking and comparing the fictional Movie to the fictional bible account, as if either one had a ounce of reality to it.

I guess this wouldnt have been a problem for JW in Canada and the UK who apparently can freely go to see movies that are forbidden in the US lol.

They will be so excited to see that the Ark is a box in the movie and doesn't have a keel. It is "accurate", right? But the dionsaurs miss the boat in this one too along with unicorns and batboy.

My wife was surprised when I expressed interest in seeing it, considering we're both XJWs.

I told her that a good movie is a good movie, no matter what its origin, and just because I don't view the Biblical Flood story as literal history, doesn't mean I can't enjoy a movie based on it. Same goes for Ridley Scott's upcoming Exodus.

I regard it as another epic fantasy film based on historical literature/mythology, like Troy or Clash of the Titans (both of which I have on Blu and love).

On a semi-related note, I read somewhere that it's being converted to 3D in post-production, but only for overseas audiences.

Guess what Wasanelder, I'm excited too. If a movie is based on a book, I prefer it to stay as much close to the original story as it can. I never got why would screenwriters depict the ark the way they did, whereas the Bible describes quite in detail its shape and size etc.

I'll watch this movie not only because as a child I enjoyed the story of Noah but because I'm big fan of Russsel Crowe.

I'm going to see it if just to remind myself how silly of a belief it is

Humans used to enjoy these stories by writing them and spreading among the population. Now we do the same, but on a screen and we know is fantasy. I can still enjoy a nice fantasy film :)
