Honduran woman accused of killing husband for trying to rape her daughter

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras - A Honduran woman has been arrested for stabbing her boyfriend more than 30 times and cutting off his penis after she said he tried to rape her 7-year-old daughter, police said Wednesday.
Margarita Ortez, 35, said she returned to her home in Tegucigalpa, the capital, on Tuesday to find Jose Adan Ponce, 40, trying to rape the girl, officials said.
The woman grabbed a stick and hit Ponce in the head, knocking him out, then she stabbed the man and cut off his penis and testicles, police said.
She fled with her daughter but was captured by police hours later.
Ortez and Ponce lived together, and Ortez had two daughters by another man. Ortez said Ponce had raped her 14-year-old daughter two months ago.
"She is the most timid of the family, and that's why we are surprised by why she did," Ortez's sister, Delmi Ortez, told reporters. "Although she was incapable of hurting a fly, Margarita did was she did to protect her daughters."
