Plese make abstraction of the rest of the crap on the website. This theory sounds pretty intriguing and it might have some degree of validity.
There is more than hypnosis. The hypnosis simply buffs the effectiveness of the whole damnation working. Praising people for being poor? Putting health behind the communist kingdom? Saying that sex is so evil, unless you are "properly" married? (With so many rules that having a proper marriage to anyone you are attracted to is next to impossible even if you are not gay, and if you are gay, forget about it.) Wasting all your time in the most dreadful work imaginable, in starched suits and surrounded by the most drab surroundings in the territory about 90% of the time? Going to some foreign land, usually one where you have no business being because it is not suited for you, to spread an infestation against the native culture?
They keep repeating that one needs to obey the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger. Regardless. It is blatant that they want you to give up your lifestyle, because if you have a decent lifestyle, you are either not doing enough field circus, you are not donating enough to the Worldwide Damnation fund, or both. They expect people to travel several hundred kilometers each way, each day, to the Grand Boasting Session in lieu of a vacation. They want people pious-sneering during the one month many of them have off, typically one of the muggiest months of the year (especially from Ohio south, and in many parts of Europe and Asia south of Paris and Beijing). Those in southern Australia, Chile (especially south of Santiago), South Africa, and New Zealand have it a bit easier with the weather, along with those in Britain, northern Europe and Canada, and Siberia where it is at least cooler. However, they don't get a break on its being the month where people are supposed to refresh for the coming year.
Even joke-hova, the monster at the top of this, rested 1/7 of the time. Yet, that thing begrudges its people of resting 1/12 of the time?
WT Wizard Thank you dear wizard ! Hahah, you're so right ! So much crap in the life of a JW. Hypnosis might be a small component, but there's a huge amout of things that make you more and more a mental slave of the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger. I kinda manipulated my parents not to go to the meetings for a few months now. No field circus, no family study, no conventions, no nothing. But man, those disgusting leeches hold a tight grip.
My mother is crying all day and is almost in a depression for longing to be with the brothers and sisters and sclaving to jokehova properly, but she still doesn't do it becase she knows deep down that nobody from the borg gives a crap about us. Oh, you should have seen the dirty looks our family got at the memorial. We chose not to spend all our money on the 200 miles away arsembly and actually pay our bills. Apparently that makes you a paria among this loving bunch.
