    ^^ From the above thread:
    "..That idea, which is now quite obvious, was not so much evident sixty years ago, when the "absolute truth" in the scientific community was the Steady State theory, which said that the universe had always existed. That is what Einstein and his colleagues believed. Cosmologists back then mocked the Bible as ludicrous and ignorant because it says the universe had a beginning, while science had proved beyond doubt that it had always existed."

    D.o.T.- there is some merit to what you say about science sixty years ago. Even though I am quite sure they really have more evidence of "a beginning" right now, they are in their infancy of understanding and explaining these things and the likes of dark matter/energy, every expanding universe, string theory, etc. will go through many changes and maybe some avenues will be abandoned.

    Still, science prods on looking for the answers and understandings while believers blindly believe. We don't even need a scientific complete understanding to mock the Bible's narrative. C'mon- Adam and Eve in the garden and the worldwide flood, Hebrews wandering the desert 40 years after slavery in Egypt, Drunken Noah, Drunken Lot screwing his daughters. HA HA HA!!! None of that happened (except maybe the Drunken Lot thingee).

    Of course. In the beginning, God created the heavens and earth

    OMG, there is so much ignorance on that forum. "There was too much Satan in it". LOL, talking about close minded. The big bang theory does not require God to be there, as a matter of fact, it does not ALLOW it.

    Yes, the Big Bang Theory requires God to be in it. Who started the bang. As if sound could be heard in space.

    Rattigan350. --haven AND earth: gen.1:1?

    No she did not create In the BEGINNING.

    Heavens--yes, sort of, but the

    Earth was NOT created in the Beginning, but

    10 Billion years later.

    The bible is off by 300% and so are wt writers.

    may it was an OVERLAPPING beginning?

    If the WBTS agrees with the "Big Bang" they obviously have not thought it through. The final state of such an entropic universe is the "Big Crunch" or ICE !

    What will happen to the asexual mortal quasi "eternal" "great crowd", and the continuing cycle of dying animals and plant life, that depends on such an enviornment when it comes to Its end ?

    Hebrews 1:

    and the heavens are the work of your hands.
    11 They will perish, but you remain;
    they will all wear out like a garment.
    12 You will roll them up like a robe;

    "The only point of disagreement I find between the Bible and the Big Bang theory is related to the ultimate fate of the universe, and this is a perfect case of the limitations of human science.
    According to the Big Bang cosmological model, there are basically two possible scenarios, depending on the shape and density of the universe: or it continues expanding forever, or it collapses due the force of gravity and begins shrinking back to the initial point. In any of those cases, the fuel that keeps stars shining gradually runs out, the universe becomes colder and colder until everything is cold and dark and dead.The reasoning behind those calculations is perfectly sound: the stars are huge masses of hydrogen that slowly turns into helium due to some nuclear reactions, releasing in the process enormous amounts of light and heat. Since the amount of hydrogen is not infinite, there will come a point when it will be exhausted, and the star will extinguish, exactly like a car that runs out of fuel. This is as logical as all get out.
    I said this shows the limitations of human science because they are only calculating from a materialistic viewpoint, without taking into account Jehovah's power and purpose. Maybe he has established a mechanism to invert that process. Maybe he has another solution ready. Or maybe we got everything wrong. We will see after a few thousands of millions of years."

    or maybe the WBTS are just wrong and the Bible is correct at Hebrews 1 above, in my comment and will just wear out. The universe was "good for a purpose" not made for comfort but a boot camp. Mortality must put on immortality, pain, suffering and death must end. the WBTS's asexual mortal quasi-eternal creation is flawed, they think small, they need to see a completely different enviornment that meets the promises in Christ and revelation, there will be no sun, moon or sea, a New Creation has already been established in Christ at his resurrection, as you keep looking at the things that will fade away.

    2 cor 4:18

    So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

    Shalom :)
