I was chatting the other day with a ministerial servant about the word "χαρις" as it appears in the New Testament .The word is translated 90% of the time as Grace but the Watchtower chooses the obscure phrase "undeserved kindness" .This article examines the definition of the word as it appears in the verse Romans 6:23 and how wages in the Roman army can help us determine the roots of the word.

My favourite part of the term 'undeserved kindness' is the way they sometimes juxtapose it with that other JW term 'deserving ones' Looks funny.
I wonder if they changed it to reduce the connections with Christendom? I.e. They also translate the popular christian word 'justification' as 'declared righteous'
it is definetely a big piece of the Bible missing there ,
