I am feeling so emotional right now. Crazy doctrines aside, these child abuse cover-ups are horrendous. Add them together and I feel like there is a churning black hole sucking the souls out of these children.

Now, I realize there are boys who were abused as well, but I get this overwhelming feeling that girls/women are simply not valued and/or taken seriously or accused of being liars or demonic or, even worse, viewed as a harlot, whore, or temptress in the majority of situations, no matter the age or the brutality of the rape. It is just sick.

I can only read so much on that site. It is a great site to open eyes to the abuse but makes me sad and angry.

After reading silentlambs and Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz we were horrified, shocked and ashamed to have been affiliated with such an obviously corrupt and criminal cult.

Just recently finished COC and decided to look at Silent Lambs also. i'm greatly disturbed by it and cannot take more than bites at a time right now.

It's the tip of the iceberg in my opinion, many can't bring themselves to tell their story. I reckon there's been a pedophile in almost every congregation at some point, that might sound sensational but the JWs are a perfect place for them to gain protection.

I heard from SL just today that the wts has required that "leaders" get the Working With Children check (this is done via the Police in each state here) even if it took them "three years" to move on this. I have to assume the checking was a real one not some home baked wt version.

Q. Leaders? All jw are considered 'ministers' or do we suddenly have clergy/laity happening?

silent lambs was the first site i looked at, subsequent to my disappearance.......it was very emotionally jolting, but i know every single word is true. i had my own almost disaster when i was young....but i got away from the perverted perpetrator before he got too far. when people would ask me if i was still a jw i would tell them no - and they'd ask why - and my response was that they condone child abuse and are anti-education. i cannot and will not accept that.

A year ago or more, I posted our story on silentlambs but could not bring myself to make it public as I would need permission from my daughter...and she wants to drop it. Sad that a victim just wants to shove it under the rug because then life can go on "as normal" in jw-land.

HeyThere I think it happen just as much to boys as will as girls. The reason I say that is I am a victim and I know of about 4 other men who are victims of sexual abuse while in the cult. My wife and I raised to boys and we was told by community effort on this subject that boy's were just as big a target as was girls. Those who abuse children are very sick people. In my opinion they should all be but to death. But I am prejudice on this subject. I just know to well what happens to a person who is abused as a child. CultBgone you are very brave to talk about this. Remember those who are brave enough to talk about what happen to them are very heroic people. They are survivors and deserve a voice in this matter.
