It means they were on the grass, it started to rain, lightning hit the tree, someone was chopping wood on the grass, and the lightning bolt went from the tree, into the ground, discharging into the 5 human beings, that were standing on the grass.
They had no warning.
I thought before reading that maybe they were in a boat in the middle of a lake when a storm came up, but no, they were in their garden.
I thought it was cute when they stated that the German grandmother's name was Oma. That is what a German Grandmother is called.
Hopefully, they will all be alright.
I wonder how they will spin this at the local KHall ...

I just posted that link to my facebook page, where I don't post JW related stuff on. But I prefaced it with my healthy respect for lightning and the huge dangers of deadly lightning strikes before the rain ever hits.
I, too, wonder how this will be spinned at the KH...or thought of by any JW reading about it.
My great grandfather was struck twice in his life. His hair turned snowy white and the strike knocked the shoes off his feet. I guess the electrical charge didn'tbother his heart too much because both times he was fine.

Why in the world would the article call out the religion? Seriously, I think JWs make it a point to let other people know their religion. How else would the reporter have known. Really, what difference does it make if they were JWs or not?
