The first paragraph of that report proceeds, "On Thursday the 15th May a family of Jehovah’s Witnesses is reported to have been injured by lightning in a violent storm in their home in Limbach-Oberfrohna, near Dresden, Germany. The entire family of five sustained injuries while their nine-year-old boy remains in hospital with more serious injuries." ...
I find it strange that the report mentions the name of this family's religion. Why is that significant in this case?
Less than professional mainstream reporting, plus an apparent translation into English -- IMHO.

This is a sad story and I hope the child is okay. But .... the irony cannot escape me. When I was a kid, we had a family friend, and when we encountered someone she considered especially worthy of Jehovah's destruction, she would say, "I don't want to be standing beside him when Jehovah strikes him down! It's not that I'm afraid Jehovah will miss, I'm afraid of splatter." I thought it was funny at the time. Now I just shake my head.
I wonder how many JWs have fantasies about Jehovah striking people down at Armageddon?

But then there is a jw family that as they went home from the Sunday morning meeting were struck by a drunk driver and all killed instantly.
Or the jw family coming home from the circuit assembly that were struck by a drunk killing half the people in their vehicle...

i agree with you Wild Thing (You make my heart sing). If you could separate the tragedy it would be priceless. The sad reality is the poor kid in a coma.
I wish them the very best but hope it leaves a few questions to mull over for believers to contemplate.

I don't think that it raises any questions to mull over. The only people who claim that dubs think they have divine protection are some posters here on this board. Everyone knows that stuff happens, people get hurt in storms and hurricanes and the dubs know that they are no different. The only protection they preach is for the Gt Tribulation to come, and for the Borganisation, as a whole. Individually they are quite expendable.
Anyway, best wishes to the sick German youngster & the family , although as a newspaper, Bild does not have the best reputation for truth and no other German source on the net seemed to have the story. The BBC picked it up secondhand though :

Reminds me of the 80s when the story was being circulated by the JWs about a Stazi Agent who moled into the JWs in East Germany. He worked up to elder and just as he was about to turn in his work and disclose his findings, he was struck by lightning. The elders ran to his home as it was a communist nation where the state collects all the belongings of an individual on death and found this out. The idea to draw was Jehovah killed this guy to save the congregation. LMFAO what a load of bull shit. I asked my elder partner in business at the time that did not the elders say that Jehovah appointed elders? Yes, so then Jehovah appointed a Stazi agent and then killed him, what the fuck for?
He told me that Jehovah must have found something good in him at the time. What a load of shit. I do not miss the stupidity of that group one bit.time. What a load of shit. I do not miss the stupidity of that group one bit.

Lightning is very common in Florida. I remember being out in service and saw lightning strike within a few feet of me. If you have ever experienced that it is fu*&*ng scary. I went back to the car and called service day over. I was not going to be a causality for the good news.
