... You felt what you did was great.

Ahh yes. Preaching in foreign lands....in ENGLISH. Yep. That is a direct quote from an Elder, on real time. I am posting this as he talks about moving to a foreign country. My wife is eating it up. Jehoover wants JWs to preach to people who have never heard " the truth" ...in ENGLISH. Uh.... ??? O...K..?!!!? So there is no greater response to the JW "good news" in English, but it's Jehoobers will..... Alrighty then.

I have no response... A Watcher, can you elaborate?? What is Jehoober doing??

There may be some engish retirement enclaves in latin countries (Mexico, Ecuador) that need to be preached to.

Yeah, a couple from my cong moved to Ecuador, they meet with a small english speaking group

and ask specifically for english speaking people in the D2D work.

Seems stupid to me but there you have it.

Tell you what though, it is possible that they (GB/WT) think english will be the language spoken in "new system."

I can't believe you're serious sweetie. This is what the bethelites used to call moving to where the need is nicer.

It's really no different from people in this country looking for homes with foreign language speakers. Other countries have immigrants too, you know.

There's gotta be some English speaking people in the French Riviera that need preaching to. I'll make the "sacrifice" and move there.

    .

God speaks English...it only makes sense this would be the language that JW missionaries speak.

Moving to an English-language congregatoin is the thing to do if you want to appear to be "cool" and "spiritual".

Of course, the people you witness to are either (a) ex-pats who sepnt 60 or 70 years turning away JWs in their home countries, or (b) locals who quickly figure out that a "Bible study" in English is a pretty good way to get a free course in "how to speak English".

But hey, it's cool and exotic and "spiritual", so lots of JWs do it.

The WT is still riding the interest that still exists in "America" in less developed countries.

These people find it intriguing when English-speaking Americans come to their door.

Many assume these people are wealthy. Some are. So you can see the underlying appeal to an impoverished household in a poorer nation.

It brings in huge field service stats. The WT brags about these stats of course. The number that stick and actually get baptised are far far far less than the number that study.

But hey...bored dubs get to do something way cooler than marching around empty suburban neighborhoods in the US, the natives get an interesting experience with crazy, clean-cut, possibly wealthy, Americans visiting them and teaching them English and American customs, and the WT gets to keep people busy and get glowing reports of activity and interest!

    win win win

The whole thing works with Canadians and others from English speaking countries as well.
