Can any of the U.K. natives on this forum point me to a website that lists costs of basic items like food, etc? Or maybe you can let me know from personal experience the price of things in London and vicinity?
Thanks,

For food, go check out a site like http://www.tesco.co.uk, which is a supermarket. They have online ordering, and should give a good indication of food prices.
Food is much the same in supermarkets all over the UK. The main ones in London are Sainsbury's, Tesco, Marks & Spencer’s, Morrisons, and Cost Cutters. The small 24-hour ones are expensive so be warned! If you are rich, you can get your stuff from Harrods food hall.
Generally, London is a rip off city, especially where beer is concerned! Did you have anything in mind in particular besides food? London is definitely one of the worlds most expensive cities, there are good bargains around just depends what you want, and if you know where to go.
We generally find things are more expensive than in Canada but it's not the same for everything and after a lot of 'outcry' over some UK pricing things are slowly beginning to change.
We do our shopping at Tesco. They are not the very cheapest but they aren't bad. If you really want to save the pennies they have their own 'value' brand for a lot of basic items which is very cheap.
My niece is coming over for part of the summer ... hope little women don't eat much !
