Thought I would share this with you....Waiting's comment about SC got me to thinking, cause that's where I got married....(Live in CA)

4 years ago I set about planning my wedding online. No small feat in those days. I found all of my vendors online.

Here comes wedding day...all deposits had been made, and all vendors knew we were traveling from out of town, and would pay them the remainder on wedding day.

Photographer arrives....meets my family.. she's a white woman....Started freaking out when my husband's family started arriving (black, verrrry black, lol)...Instead of taking pictures of me/wedding party, she proceeded to come into the dressing room panicked, asking for the rest of the money. (now mind you, we really weren't obligated to give her one penny more because the contract specified the remainder was due upon receipt of wedding pics--about 2 months away.)

Bothered me 3 or 4 times until I told her to #*@& off, if she didn't want to wait until after the wedding she could leave then and I'd take the #*$&@($ pictures myself (and you know I did).

Wedding progresses, totally unreligious ceremony. Father gives the prayer, mentions Jehovah. After prayer, she runs over to ask my father were we JWs....Father intelligently says some are some aren't....She says she is, and tries to recruit whole family to go to the meeting the next day....

She chilled out then, stopped asking for money. Started smiling. Sat down and helped herself to the buffet.

Two months later got the pictures. Pure bull@*#&. Not one picture that I had asked her to take before the wedding. The worst wedding pics you ever saw in your life. I asked for a 2x2 format like a Leica or Hasselblad. Got 35 mm. my 7 yr old could've taken.
Not one picture of not one guest. She knew (I told her) people were coming from all over the States....not one freakin picture....Not even one freakin picture of the Country Club where we got married. She had to go back 6 mos later and take them.

Just reflecting on why she was so obsessed with getting her money when she saw half the wedding party was black?!?!? I have to honestly say, she was the only vendor we were disappointed in. We hired her for 5 hours 200 prints. After she too 200 pictures she left. We were expecting her to be there 5 hours per contract, but she said her 200 pics were taken. I was like, whatever, @*#&$.

The rest of them were FABULOUS....including the Country Club where we had it....They left the open bar (we paid for 2 hrs) open all night....My sister and cousin put a dent in their tequila stock, LOL.

    Wierd...

    Hmmmm,

sounds like a JW who hasn't "widened out" with her association. Maybe she missed the WT article on race relations. Come to think of it, is there any pics in the WT rags that shows an interracial family?

    TR,
when was the last you attended a meeting? Interacials are discouraged because of issues of cultural background and compatibility. Never mind if they grew up in the same environment. We must not stumble our brothers. And to tell you how much better things've gotten over the years, I think I'll search for that Gilead class where I saw a couple, black and white. Now can you beat that? And...er... arecent WT issue discussed inviting others to our family gathering. The picture there shows a black sister with the white nuclear family. And I tell you it isn't only in the picture.

TR, My childhood friend (black sister) got married about eight months after I did (white brother) and he being a MS, was counseled that his marriage could be cause for stumbling.

I am not kidding you about this, please don't think I am. She told me they had an Elder's meeting with her (now) husband where her was reminded there were several white sisters who would LOVE to have a husband.

I was so outraged I was yelling at her, "HOW can you take this? They are representing themselves as servants of Jehovah?"

Her dad is also an elder, she knows how it works. It the end, she told me they just decided to 'Wait on Jehovah.' People willingly submitting to this type of horse#*$& because they can't admit how wrong it is to have uneducated & untrained men in positions of authority.

I cited my example because it smacked of racism, and when I found this woman was a JW, it was a slap in my face and the face of my family. I never told my husband about the fact she was a JW, he was already pi$$ed off about the way she was acting, and there was no need to throw fuel on the fire.
