I am unaware of any event such as this ever being held openly. They are taking the possibility seriously and wish to be prepared, if such were to emerge.

Why is it we send a space craft to Mars, unload some land vehicles, send images and test results back to earth. Anyone on Mars could walk over to our craft and look in the lens and say Hi!

Probably the same unexplained reasons why people hide in their own homes from Jehovah's Witnesses. LOL

Alpha, perhaps that is why the creator is hiding too,
in all three cases,
the hiding party knows that the visitor has NOTHING good to contribute to the occasion.
