Did you feel guilty over your sexual feelings or actions, while you were a JW? The Watchtower always wasnts people to feel guilty. I know of MANY Witnesses that would pioneer or volunteer for something, as an act of penance for their sexual sins or desires, even if they were married!

It seems like many religions that derive from the catholic church and the bible.
Thrive on guilt and penace.
I would say the Catholic church is Jehovahs witnesses light.
But since the catholic church is the original that doesn't really make sense.
The church is a coconspirator with the wealthy in controlling the masses.
and in that you find your conspiracy and conpiracies.
Just read a high school history book of the world, aka World history 101.
From the begining of history in Sumer 3,500 years ago.
Let me clarify, the begining of recorded history.

This was a big deal for me, probably as a combination of factors including my innate personality and my upbringing, but guilt over my sexual thoughts nearly killed me. I figured I was done for at Armageddon anyway, so why not bump myself off first?

Less and less the older I got; it just wasn't worth the effort.

The Organization wants everyone to feel they should be uniform, united. No individuality when it comes to sex because everything is bad, wrong.

It would have been the opposite for me. Whenever I felt extra sinful, my conscience wouldn't let me go from door to door, recommending my way of life to other people when I wasn't living it properly myself.
The funny thing is, looking back....other than the occasional temper tantrum or cuss word, I never did anything to be ashamed of....but I sure felt like I did. Then I find out that a bunch of people I know, were living double lives while knee deep in organizational activities.

Yes I think so. I was very careful with my action.

Yeah, I was similar, PZ. I held off on getting baptized because I couldn't behave as well as I thought I had to in order to represent my religion. Then I decided that getting baptized might help me 'fight the fine fight' (it didn't). But looking back, I don't know what I was feeling guilty about. I wasn't doing anything to hurt other people, and wasn't doing drugs or sleeping around.
