Will Elders Now "Grow A Pair"?

As a former elder, I know that there was always friction with the C.O. (funny.... sounds like "Commanding Officer, doesn't it?).

Anyhow, I do wonder how much 'submission' or toadying many of these "men" can endure now that Circuit Overseers have been given absolute power. Doesn't every man have his breaking point? Or are they mostly so old and burned out that "yes, massah" will apply?

Most of them will continue to get in line to kiss his ring ass.

Yes, it will really turn into a personality driven thing.

If you want to be viewed well, the co had better like you...or else....

For the most part, what else does an elder have? The Org. strips a person of anything truly meaningful in life, so the only "power" and control an elder has is that found in the congregation, where he can fill the internal void created by following the ideologies of the very religion that has emasculated him.

Regardless of the absurdities he must endure, the elder will hang on to the last vestige of 'manhood' he has: being an elder- one of the elite who can lord his authority over the rank and file while projecting his insecurities and dashed dreams of an unfulfilled life onto the sorry soul who dares get out of line or defy his lordship.

ADCMShirley -- very thoughtful and well-written post. It must be much more difficult for an elder to walk away than those of the sheeple class.

I'm in awe of your post ADCMShirley. You have articulated the matter beautifully.

If I'm correct, things are going to get really sad for these Armageddon-addicts. The Society is going to be amazed at how far they can push these people and still get away with it.

I think you have to turn in your pair to get to be an elder. So since they don't have any and of course no brain what else do they have, so no would be the correct answer.

With this extra authority given to COs, I'm sure many COs will now begin leveraging for thicker envelopes at the end of each congo visit.
