Bluegrass Music to me is the most delightful, happifying music, esecially when outside, listening to it live.

One of my favorite entertainers has always amazed me with his talent on the banjo. This clip with Earl Scruggs ( whos son was engaged to a friend of mine, which makes him even more of a special entertainer to me) and Steve Martin, (one of my very favorites in both hollywood and music genres) is one of my favorite clips of this song. It shows the true humility of Steve Martin making sure the stage was not all about him, even though he was more well known in hollywood.

I wish, really wish, one of my kids would have taken up the banjo. It is such an uplifting instrument. ( I am still working on my son since he is loking for a new instrument to take up)

Just wanted to share and hopefully lift up a day like it has mine :)

Have you ever seen the Sleepy Man Banjo Boys? Young boy of about 9 playing the banjo accompanied by his 11 year old brother sizzling on the violin and 13 year old brother on the guitar. Check them out on youtube, they were on Letterman and also performed at a folk festival in Philadelphia. We were amazed at how good they are!

Blue grass music is not a favorite of mine. Some of it isn't bad. My musical vocabulary is limited so I don't know how to explain what I like. It was presented as good, clean music in contrast to the Beatles, the heirs of Satan. Anything I liked was too worldly. I doubt if Manhattan is a blue grass venue. It would be nice to know more.

Thanks Paintedtoenail, I'll check them out.

BOTR hearing it live is special to me. Maybe because I have heard it all my life, I don't know. It's usually ( or maybe always) happy music, and I like that.

I like other genres of music as well. But bluegrass holds a special place for me.

Happifying? Straight from WT 1984, room 101.

Slidin, it is a new word in my vocabulary. I didn't know it was a WT/1984 word. I don't remember that word in the Orwell book.

I don't really hear "happifying" used in the Kingdom Hall, at least not these days. Just goes to show that people have adverse reactions to anything vaguely JW around here.
