'Spiritual Cousins' of Jehovah's Witnesses - [ 'The Seventh Day Adventist Church - ' let a ‘wolf’ guard the ‘flock,’” said Portland attorney Steve Crew. ]
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Two 50-year-old men filed a lawsuit Tuesday claiming the Seventh-Day Adventist Church put a man known to abuse children in charge of its youth program in the 1970s and kept him in that position even after learning he was accused of abusing a child in its ranks.

'An attorney representing the church couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
The men's attorneys claim that Bovee molested an undetermined number of boys, and that the problem with childhood sexual abuse within the Seventh Day Adventist Church was widespread.
Attorneys for D.M. and F.D. said that from 1992 to 2011, church documents show more than 400 claims made against the church in the U.S., involving 525 child victims -- costing the church more than $30 million.'

The Seventh Day Adventists sprung from the Second Adventists (Millerites). Charles Taze Russell got many of his doctrines from the Second Adventists. So, in a way, the Jehovah's Witnesses can be seen as a 'cousin' to the Seventh Day Adventists - they have the same parent.
They belong to the same family.

Seventh-day Adventists joined with the California Catholic Conference in strong opposition to SB 131. SB 131 would have provided survivors of sexual abuse an opportunity to seek justice against the sexual perpetrator as well as the institution that protected the abuser.
Governor Brown vetoed the bill.
Legislative Alert – May 8, 2013 SB 131 – OPPOSE Yesterday Dennis Seaton was in attendance at the Judiciary Committee where SB 131 passed with only one vote against. This bill is harmful to Adventist Church schools. The bill is being vigorously opposed by the California Association of Private School Organizations (CAPSO). Seventh-day Adventist schools are affiliated with CAPSO. - See more at:
