Check Your Private Beliefs

Despite centuries of analysis from religion and philosophy,
life largely remains a mystery. However, one truth stands out
    in my experience:

Your life's conditions and collective experience are mostly the
product of your internal beliefs. As you think, so you are.

This is what is so disturbing about the 'truth'. It drills fear,
guilt and paranoia into people's heads - and not surprizingly,
their lives reflect their programming - in the form of depression,
suicide, and hopelessness. For you loyal defenders of the faith,
that lack of hope is seen in every sigh accompanied by the
wish that God destroys the world "soon", while decades go by.

Nor should we discount the link between mind and body, in observing
the endless parade of chronically sick Witnesses often cursed
with ailments that medical science can barely acknowledge as
objective - multiple personalities, debilitating allergies,
self mutilation syndrome, and so on.

If you become an EX-JW, by all means, CHECK YOUR PRIVATE BELIEFS!

Does your internal dialogue reflect a habit of unceasing guilt
and condemnation? Pessimism? Withdrawal or hate of the human race?
If it does - and you can't change - you'll never be free of
the mental slavery that the Watchtower infects people with.

They say success is the best revenge - I wish all of you
get a solid education, get rich, and feel joy in being alive.

Then, I want you to show up at a Kingdom Hall once in a
while, with a broad smile on your face, driving a beautiful
car and wearing loud clothes. If Witnesses often enjoy seeing
failure in others (yes, they do!) THEY ESPECIALLY HATE seeing
happiness and success in SOMEONE WHO HAS ESCAPED!

Escaping takes time and work, but you can make it.
More and more people are doing it and avoiding the condemnations
of the jealous and self righteous - by succeeding in life.

    Buena Suerte,

    SO TRUE Metatron.

I'm working on an essay that I have to keep going back to in order to finish it.

It is amazing the depth of the mental manipulation we were prey to.

Yes, you may not be JW anymore but a lot of those old beliefs are still there in the woodwork just waiting for a chance to manifest themselves.

I have a hard time remembering to say "the" Jehovah's Witnesses or not referring to it as the "truth" esp when talking to my parents (ok Theokratic War Staregy aside--it still annoys me.)

    Great post.

Metatron, I guess you have found these sick, debilitated, frustrated, miserable, suicidal people somewhere, but I have to say that I don't know any of them.

Now as for happy people that have good, professional jobs, drive the latest fine cars, and wear fabulous clothes, you can find many of them any Sunday as members of our local KH.

Metaron and LDH, you are both correct. accuracy must be going to the Bel Aire, CA KH.

Anyone with any success was immediately suspect as being "materialistic."

The mind bending that is practiced is worth research by someone working on a degree in psychology.

I agree that there is a connection between mind and body. Science has proven this. Positive thinking can overcome many physical ills.

However, if you believe the end (as in the big A) is around the corner, why think positive? God will take cae of it. (yeah right)

Congregations are loaded with 'em. That's why, years back,
the Awake ran so many articles on depression.

As for the rich folks at the Kingdom Hall, funny isn't it
that contributions are so low that the Society is forced
to eliminate a 120 year tradition - namely subscriptions.

The dreamy, unreal and almost psychotic viewpoint within
the organization is well illustrated at many assemblies
in New England. On Sunday, you have a "public talk". After
that "public talk", interested persons are encouraged to
contact any one of JW's for a home bible study.

What's psycho about this is that year after year the attendance
goes down during the "public talk" relative to the morning
as bored Witnesses sneak away, so there is no "public"
there. Further, the handbills and placards of the past are
no longer in evidence - AND circuit assemblies are usually
held in private assembly halls - that the "public" knows
    little or nothing about.

Does the Society notice? Does anybody notice in this dreamy, fantasy
prone religion? Do they still give a baptism talk if nobody
shows up to be dunked? (answer, yes!)

Would you like to tell me how this cult encourages mental
    health?
