I have been testing out a few changes I've just been working on which alters how you can post. You will soon have:
The ability to choose the area for the post when you are posting. ie. you don't have to go to the area and start a new topic from there - you can choose where it goes when you post.
The ability to move a topic by editing the post and changing the subject area (topic starter only).
The ability to use a WYSIWYG editor for making posts (if you have IE) and to enter HTML for formatting instead of the '[' & ']' characters (for non IE users). Copy and paste from word etc... (I've spent a lot of time on this making sure that unneeded code from Word is stripped off and potentially unsafe HTML such as script is removed).
You won't see it but the topic store has been redesigned slightly to save some space and hopefully improve performance a tad. It also brings it inline with the new forum version so the changeover to that will not be as big a jump when it happens (less risky).
I intend to do a bit more testing and if all goes well will try and have it up and running over the weekend. As I have to convert the format of about 500Mb of XML files it may be neccessary to have some down-time although I should be able to do most of it in the background and perhaps just have to switch off posting for a short time.
If there is problem then I will hold fire until Dateline has aired (in fact as I type this I'm thinking it may be best to wait for a bit ... I'll have a think about it in the morning)
