  10 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, [a] in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. 11 My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. 12 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow [the Governing Body]”; another, “I follow [the Organization]”; another, “I follow [Jehovah's Witnesses] [b] ”; still another, “I follow Christ.”

  13 Is Christ divided? Was [the Governing Body] crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of [the Governing Body]? 14 I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15 so no one can say that you were baptized in my name. 16 (Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don’t remember if I baptized anyone else.) 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

  You probaly can insert the word 'Governing Body' in many scriptures instead of God, the Lord, Jesus, and have a very good description of the situation in the minds or the congregations of JWs.

  Does the term "governing body" appear in the 'silver sword'? I was thinking it appears, not in any actual scripture, but in a descriptive heading around the book of Acts.

  Does trying to understand the WTS give you a headache?

  This thread makes me try to understand the revised theology.

  So, the FDS did not come into existence until 1919, is that correct?

  The July 15, 2013 WT says:

  7 Think, for a moment, about the question: “Who really is the faithful and discreet slave?” In the first century, there was hardly a reason to ask such a question. As we saw in the preceding article, the apostles could perform miracles and even transmit miraculous gifts as proof of divine backing. ( Acts 5:12 ) So why would anyone need to ask who really was appointed by Christ to take the lead? In 1914, however, the situation was much different. The harvest season began in that year. The time had finally arrived to separate the weeds from the wheat.

  And the GB was the apostles and elders of the Jerusalem congregation (why just those elders?).

  So the apostles are dying off, and when Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 CE, then who was the GB from 71 CE forward?

  True Christianity existed at least until John died, did it not?

  So, why was there no need for a FDS from 71 CE forward, when there was no EVIDENCE of the holy spirit being obtained by the laying on of the hands of the apostles?

  Additionally, the very same magazine (Simplified) says:

  Jesus will judge people of all nations as sheep or goats when he comes during the great tribulation. Then, at Armageddon, the goats will be ‘cut off’ forever, that is, destroyed. So this shows us how important our preaching work is. Before the great tribulation begins, people still have time to change their thinking and start living in a way that puts them on the road “leading off into life.” (Matthew 7:13, 14) It is true that some people may now have an attitude that might make us think that they are a sheep or a goat. But we should remember that it is during the great tribulation that Jesus will make the final judgment of the sheep and the goats .

  So, why then the comment above:

  What is the difference between "the sheep and the goats" and "the weeds and the wheat."

  How can anyone even try to explain this stuff?

  berrygerry. The mixed-up wt doctrine has it, that there were no Other Sheep* before ~1935. so, any sorting out/judgement before that, was among the so-called 'anointed', which in wt parlance are the 'wheat&weeds'.

  * it is generally agreed that the 'Other Sheep' are the Gentile Christians starting with the FIRST century centurion Cornelius, and are not the late WT invention of the depressing 1930s.
