Something I picked up on a few months ago is this:
Pick up any recent publication, find a picture where you can see someone's left hand... 95% of the time they will have a wedding ring on!

I think you're on something here. The 'truth' basically sets everything up for couple and families. What I've noticed is almost a passive hostility toward singles, especially those over the 25-30 age group. The way they treat singles is just downright deplorable, like that of being invisible or nonexistant.
