Here is a copy of what I was sent as an e-mail.
At the end of Billy's daughters quotes, are my thoughts. What are yours?
    ....Here it is:
    subject: "Some food for thought"....

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane
    Clayson
asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" (regarding the

    attacks on Sept. 11).

Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said
    "I
believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years
    we've
been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government
    and
to get out of our lives.

And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How
    can
we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He

    leave us alone?"

Here is what I said back to the e-mail sender:

    "This seems odd to me,...
so is she saying if the U.S. hadn't done all the things she mentioned....we wouldn't have had terrorist attacks and lost under 6,000 people?

What about when the U.S. DID have all the things she mentioned. How many died ?

The Spanish flu killed 20 million people....as many as WW1. Did God have a reason for not stepping in on that one too? What of every person that has been through horrible pain and suffering.....millions....just not in one place at one time. All at a time when our GOVERNMENT had God in it.

I don't mean to down your mail......but the answers from (some) Christians do not make sense to me".

How many of you Christians agree?

    The quote you received is more accurate than it first was, but still not quite. Isn't it amazing how people wish to spread these things around and never check to see their accuracy? The following site has the real quote as well as the transcript from the show;

What was she saying, that God deals only with the whole nation, that individuals who beleive are abandoned because of the group think?

she reflects the basic mindset of most believers in my exp. even jw share this same type of mindset

that somehow when events take place esp in the western world somehow god was connected to the event.

it really puts thier god in a catch 22, either he allowed it to happen and did nothing and therefore is to blame, or he could do nothing and is weak.

in most countries it is unlaw for an authority figure to knowingly allow something to happen that they could prevent and not be held liable.

    case in point

Police- watch a woman get raped while eating a jelly filled dougnut might not get his pension.

SEC offical --who knows that Bear and Sterns is ripping off thier clients with bogus investment schemes and does nothing

Bush- 9-11 in NYC and Wash, dc-- did he know about the attack on the WTC and if so when did he know it

Pontius Pilot- Who me? i didn't put jesus to death, i even washed my hands with Dial anti-bateria soap

the point being anytime someone who supposely possess the power to stop pain and suffering decides not to-- then that one can't wash his hands of the matter

but then again as they say GOD CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS TO AND YOU BETTER NOT QUESTION IT OR ELSE HE WILL KILL YOU\

    Gumby,

Having read the direct quote from the transcript, I think you've lost the point she was making. She's saying it's Ironic that those who try to push God away wonder where His protection was in a time of crisis. She DIDN'T say or indicate that had we only fully accepted God that this wouldn't have happened. Jesus followed the Father's will perfectly and look what happened to him.

God generally doesn't run interference with the operation of Free Will, even when it effects or even harms those that follow him. However, like the bible says, God can make good things come even from the Evil that happens IF WE LET HIM. WHich goes back to Mrs Graham-Lotz' original comments, those who want to know where God was that horrible day need to embrace rather than push him away!

Quote; "She DIDN'T say or indicate that had we only fully accepted God that this wouldn't have happened"

I believe she WAS indicating God wasn't there to interceed, because we kicked him out of the good ol You of A.

    Thanks for your imput though.
