The report noted that more than 1,600 conscientious objectors to military service, mostly Jehovah's Witnesses, were serving three-year prison sentences at the end of 2001.

The conditions they were held in were often freezing, overcrowded, and the prisoners often were dealt harsh and arbitrary punishments, the report said.

WHile I disagree with the jailing of ANYONE on grounds of conscienctious objection to military service, Amnesty International is about as leftist an organization as you can get.

So? It means most of their "reports" are biased and misleading.

A person’s right to refuse to perform any kind of military service because of his or her beliefs is a manifestation of the basic human freedoms - freedom of thought, religion, conscience and belief. As an Amnesty member I will do everything in my power to help these ones. I defend their right to refuse military service.

It is important to show tolerance and love and empathy towards Jehovah’s Witnesses. One thing’s for sure - persecuting them won’t make them see sense; it just makes them more resilient! And these are people – poor deluded people - it could have been me not so long ago!

Show a bit of love for Christ’s sake!

    Hang on a minute.

Just because they have an opinion does not mean they cannot be objective, nor does it mean they are biased to the extent of being 'misleading'.

I love Indian food, so given a choice of take-away on a Friday night I'd probably go for a Lamb Madras and cauliflower bhaji - doesn't mean I'm biased against fish & chips.

I'm pretty anti-watchtower, lots of bias there. Doesn't mean I'm going to be misleading in anything I say about them - I want to defeat them with the truth.

Which part of Amnesty's report did you particularly find biased and misleading Yerusalyim? Perhaps you have a more accurate version of the truth you'd care to share with us?

In this particular case none. It's a fairly accurate report. I'm just suprised that Israel is constantly showing up as a violator, but Palestine doesn't.
