Leaving Me Behind for Your New World

Once I loved the sound of your voice, but
    your words have become meaningless

As you venture into a state that leaves me,
your companion, at a loss as to what to

Think, to do, if ever again I should link my
heart and soul and body to one like you.

Your honey words no longer melt in my ears
though, surely, they become fainter as you

Move toward a land that means a life and
hope beyond what I could ever give you.

Go then, seek your New World and a god
whose grip on you eclipses my paltry love.

There is a raw intensity to your cry that any heart would find impossible to squelch and not express.

Beautiful. Painful. Expresses the terrible, unbridgable gap.... :(

Thanks so much, Steve and Muddy Waters.

The bitter irony is that it was I who left behind my "companion" in order seek a god not known by my forebears and his promised "New World." I have such mixed emotions now about my preaching to kith and kin, those who listened to the "honey words" that assured that there was, truly, a land of milk and honey that awaited us all.

They seem content in their world of fantasy . . .

    And me -- ?

    Love,

    CoCo

Beautiful. I had to read it a couple of times. Each time had more meaning than the last.
