My Simplified Suggestion for the Faithful And Discreet Slave (Matthew 24:45-51, Luke 12:40-48):

It's really just a simple parable showing that Jesus will reward the leaders of each Congregation / Church who remain faithful and discreet in caring for their flocks, and that He will punish the wicked leaders.

    Nothing more, nothing less.

This parable is exactly like the messages Jesus delivered to the 7 Congregations in Revelation 2:1 through 3:22.

There is nothing in the Bible that links the Faithful and Discreet Slave to anything else besides the leaders of Congregations.

Plus, since this is definitely a parable/illustration, the Governing Body now says we should not be looking for any special complicated antitypical fulfillments or giving explanations for every detail of the parable.

    Good.

My take on it is that each of us can be "the faithful and discreet slave". I think this parable is at a personal level. Like the virgins. We don't think that just because they are females it applies to women. It is just a parable. Are you listening GB????

Disclaimer: My thoughts, in case I would think all of this is for real.

GB: Oops! We certainly want our message to be simple - but not so simple that people conclude the 'faithful and discrete slave is only a parable".

    Pixel,

Good point. I would agree that the principle or moral lesson can definitely apply to any individual Christian.

Everyone, yes. "Leaders",....NO. Taking the lead, as it were, simply means setting an example. That doesn't mean that you are the boss of someone.

Congregation= All Christians. There is no two-class system. I agree that if the bible is real, then Jesus will reward those who help others.

You need to get over the whole "leader" thingy. Its YOU and Jesus, if the bible is true. Jesus did speak of false religious "leaders" and their fruits. He also spoke of slaves who did know know, so they did not do. Got an explanation as to why the GB totally ignore that passage??

    Data-Dog,

If we are going to take the New Testament seriously, it absolutely teaches that the Congregations were supposed to have Elders/Shepherds who were leaders in that Congregation. (Acts 14:23; Titus 1:5; 1 Peter 5:1; James 5:14)
