BRIDGEPORT - Police in Bridgeport say they are investigating a deadly shooting that may have stemmed from a domestic dispute. The Bridgeport Police Crime Scene Unit is at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses,
located at 245 Huntington Turnpike, after they say a homicide occurred at around 1:20 a.m. Sunday.
. . .
. Police say 36-year-old Griselle Pizarro, of Bridgeport, fatally shot her romantic partner, Jacob Lopez, in a pickup truck parked on Huntington Avenue after he reportedly assaulted her. Lopez was rushed to Bridgeport Hospital and pronounced dead at around 6 a.m. After Lopez was shot, he allegedly told police, “Griselle shot me.” Kaempffer said Pizarro told police Lopez physically assaulted her as they sat in the pick-up talking. Kaempffer said Pizarro told investigators she took a gun from her purse during the assault and fired several shots.
.
. She said she walked home, where police found her. It’s not known if Pizarro has an attorney. Police picked up Pizarro from her residence and took her to the police department, where they say she admitted to shooting Lopez. They recovered the .40-caliber handgun that she had in her purse when Lopez allegedly began attacking her. Her bond has been set at $500,000. Police said 36-year-old Greiselle Pizarro was charged Sunday with murder and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
.
. Police spokesman William Kaempffer said Jacob Lopez was found at about 1:30 a.m., shot in the chest outside his pick-up truck on Huntington Turnpike. "We take all gun violence very seriously, and this remains a very active investigation," Police Chief Joseph L. Gaudett Jr. said in a press release. "The priority always is keeping our kids and families safe. The investigation doesn’t end with an arrest."
