When my husband became an elder, he realized that the letters from the GB had the elder version and the congregation version. He suggested that was lying to the congregation. So you can just about bet that if a letter is read, you did hear the whole letter...thus lying.

When someone lies to you it is because they don't respect you enough

to be honest and they think you are to stupid to know the difference.

Like politicians, they are more often evasive than blatantly dishonest. It's called "plausible deniability", a lesson learned from the embarrassment of 1914, 1917, 1975, etc.

They are ignorant and numb to the unitive and vibrant reality of life and existence in and around them, and so create a make-believe “reality” out of abstract thoughts and beliefs far removed from what is real.

I suggest we stop looking at others, and look at ourselves.
