I wonder if a relative silence has struck the Watchtower
and its leadership in the aftermath of Dateline. I wonder
if soul-searching has, at least temporarily, replaced
their customary braggadocio and calloused arrogance.
Could events be telling them that Jehovah isn't protecting
them? That he isn't giving them a 'blank check' to
support their work?
I passed by a local Catholic Church on a weekend and
found it overflowing with cars parked everywhere.
Apparently, it was some festival or something.
Molestation or not, they know how to put on a show
that people will attend. They also have enough property
to weather most any legal storm. An elder in my hall used
to marvel at the consistency of their attendance. They'll
survive whatever mess they get themselves into.
If the Governing Body isn't sweating by now,
they truly are fools. This is a small, globally
overstretched organization with limited contributions
and property. Volunteers, relative to the skills
needed to maintain such an empire, are getting worse.
(spiritually strong screwups??!!).
They can lose. They can be defeated. They can be
sued. They can be publically humiliated.
They better be choosing their next steps carefully,
because the competitive world around them isn't going
to allow many more mistakes to be made.
Watchtower metanoia is long overdue.
