Earth to Dad

I just got an email from my JW-Elder-Dad (correspondence is rare). I cannot believe how NOT THERE he really is. Mom & Dad will not be attending my grandfather's funeral because it is a military ceremony. The response is so Borg-conceived I must quote some:

"...we will do what we know is best, regarding (Grandpa's) funeral. (Son), we learned through many personal experiences & the many experiences of others, that upholding Jehovah's Principles always works out for the better. We have clean consciences, & true joy in knowing that we haven't violated those Principles. Mom & I can only try our best to follow our Bible-trained consciences, despite our imperfections. When we do Jehovah's will, it makes his heart glad, too, & that is even more important than our own feelings of victory. I know that it is hard for you to understand at this stage in your life, but Jehovah has been very good to us, and even promises us a better future, despite the joy we have right now. It is beyond compare."
In other words: "Sorry,I've been brainwashed so long that I no longer have my own opinions. Please accept this prepared response from the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society."

In this time of world distress, have you ever wondered:

"has the individual you previously considered your father been replaced by a zombie, whose soul is now occupied by a freeloading
    parasite known as 'ridiculous ideas?'"

Please read with me a few verses from the book of Docephius 93:9...

    Hello Professor,

My dad is probably older than yours. His brain is somewhat petrified (like those of many on the GB) and he is not capable of composing a letter as coherent as your dad’s (believe it or not). New thoughts and ideas are totally beyond his comprehension, yet he serves as an elder and “teaches” frequently in front of the congregation. And the WTS wonders why people don’t want to go to meetings!

As you imply, both men are prisoners of there own unwillingness to think for themselves.

Broken down it looks like this:

...we will do what we know is best, regarding (Grandpa's) funeral.

'...it doesn't matter how much pain I will cause my Mother or my FLESHLY family. The Watchtower says we can't go.'

(Son), we learned through many personal experiences & the many experiences of others,
'of course no one is allowed to share and experience if it isn't UPBUILDING'

that upholding Jehovah's Principles always works out for the better. We have clean consciences, & true joy in knowing that we haven't violated those Principles.
'I'm afraid of losing my status as an elder'

Mom & I can only try our best to follow our Bible-trained consciences, despite our imperfections.
'See how humble we are? Please piss on us, Watchtower, we love it.'

When we do Jehovah's will, it makes his heart glad, too, & that is even more important than our own feelings of victory.
    'We win! You lose!'

I know that it is hard for you to understand at this stage in your life,
'just in case I didn't make it clear that I'm talking down to you'

but Jehovah has been very good to us, and even promises us a better future, despite the joy we have right now.
'we are so happy because we are able to ignore you and your sister and don't have to worry about any of your problems anymore...all with a clean conscience!'

    it is beyond compare
'And really, what do we have to compare it to?'

And I've learned through many personal experiences & the experiences of others (especially here at JWD) that after people are relased from a cult the truly regret their silly anti-social behavior while they were in the cult.

Dear Professor, Your father's letter was beautiful - everyone who has had a frontal labotomy would say the same. As for the rest of us? Anti nausea medication or try hitting your skull against a brick wall for a little lite relief! "I know you won't understand us son"? I wonder how he knows that? Does it mean your dad has a couple of brain cells still functioning???

    Sheesh!

    i8emallup:

Good point. It's like one of those movies where someone says "Look out! That's not Dad anymore!"
