I just gave blood at work. Another big bad horrible thing that I was taught was evil, debunked.

When I fell 25 feet out of the that tree nearly four years ago and damn near died, I TOOK THREE UNITS OF WHOLE BLOOD (emphasis for the GB). And you know what? I didn't and still don't give a big rat's ass what the GB or any Witlesses think.

My parents came into my room while I was receiving the transfusion (it takes a looooong time to transfuse three units), and they didn't say a word. But then, they won't discuss JWs or their beliefs with me ever since I debated them to a dead stop about the Dubs years ago. My father, the one who has never been known to have ever been wrong about anything in his entire life, recoils from the idea of an honest discussion of JW beliefs like it was a snake.

Anyway. I TOOK BLOOD AND GOD DIDN'T GET ME!!!

BTW it reminds me of something that someone else observed: if JWs now allow for use of certain blood fractions, why don't they give blood for that purpose?

What's that? Oh, its OK to take advantage of other peoples donations when you need fractions, but you won't return the favour? Oh, my! That doesn't sound very "Christian"!

My husband, an exjw, has given blood twice in the last 6 months. He only started doing it recently. I'm too much of a wuss. The terrible thing is that I wouldn't be too much of a wuss to receive blood, if my life depended on it. Oops.
