"Saving Private Ryan"

  Hi,

  Remember the movie "Saving Private Ryan"? It was a hard movie to watch!!

  Sometimes I think about the friends in the Org. I left behind. Sister xxxx who always hugged me and my children, brother xxxx who sincerely cared for us and tried to help, always!

  The brother who treated my son as if he was his son. The friend of my youth with whom I shared such silly good times as a young woman.

  The brother who lent my mother money to buy a car, at no interest. The brothers who in effect became fathers to myself and my siblings.

  The older sister and brother, the only ones I will name here because they have long been dead: Clarence and Bea Beatty of Long Island, New York! Who loved us when we were just kids!

  It is people like these and many others who are the "Private Ryans" and some brave people both in and out of the Org. are working to "save" them.

  It is very easy to demonise all JWs due to our disgust/hatred/anger/whatever towards the GB and the organisation, forgetting that there are many genuine individuals who think they are truly serving God and that God is really using the Organisation. They take to heart the words of the Watchtower, and act like we would expect loving, committed Christians to behave.

  After all, didn't WE think we were in the "true religion"? Didn't WE think we were doing the right thing? Didn't WE want to help others to be saved at Armageddon, and have the chance to live forever too?

  I do miss many good-hearted individuals who are still JWs, who are subject to the mind-controlling tactics of their chosen faith. I have relatives who genuinely think they are doing the right thing, and are sad that I am no longer associating with them at the meetings and assemblies.

  I don't hate JWs, I hate the organisation and the men in power who think they are God's spokesmen, and who abuse that power.
