Disfellowshipping/2 witness rule

    How it should read.:

    Do you shun former members?

Those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned if they don't make anything vocal as to WHY they are leaving. In compliance with the Scriptures, however, members can be expelled for serious unchristian conduct, such as stealing, drunkenness, or adultery, if they do not repent and cease such actions. Disfellowshipping does not sever family ties, if they live in the same household. If they live outside the home, family ties no longer exist Disfellowshipped members may continue to attend religious services, and if they wish, they may receive pastoral visits, unless they are known apostates They are always welcome to return to the faith as long as they don't ask questions against our faith.1 Corinthians -13.

The main problem with that paragraph is that the Tower doesn't define the meaning of "family ties". It could be anything. They have in fact left themselves a convenient little loophole by not specifying the meaning of that phrase...

    yes, family ties:

marriage cannot be dissolved merely becasue one mate is disfellowshiped

if a minor child is disfellowshiped, legal obligations for parental support, discipline and education still remain.

responsibility toward an elderly parent still remain.

That's what it means, and that's all it means, and that doesn't answer the question either, the question was SHUNNING, not legal obligations.

    hi db

marriage cannot be dissolved merely becasue one mate is disfellowshiped

    and i'll venture to add...

marriage cannot be dissolved merely because one mate no longer wants any part of the cult/religion and wants to cease to be involved.

although they certainly will try that, and use the threat of one mate damaging the others "sprirituality" as an o.k. reason.

    "theocratic warfare?"

    you be the judge

    thank you alan.

From the Flucking book, lets see how many discrepancies we can find, compared to what ACTUALLY happens in real live judicial tribunal kangaroo mock jw courtrooms, shall we?

If the accused repeatedly fails to come to the hearing,
the committee will proceed with the hearing but will not make a decision until evidence and any testimony by witnesses are considered.

The committee should not take action against a person
unless the evidence clearly proves this necessary.

Failure to appear before the committee is not in itself
    proof of guilt.

here we go again. They really need to smarten up when it comes to children on this one. for the sake of those children preyed upon by the hidden and protected pedophiles these people shelter.

Confession (admission of wrongdoing), either written or
oral, may be accepted as conclusive proof without other
    corroborating evidence. (Josh. 7:19)
Strong circumstantial evidence, such as pregnancy or evi-
dence (testified to by at least two witnesses) that the
accused stayed all night in the same house with a person of
    the opposite sex
(or in the same house with a known
homosexual ) under improper circumstances, is acceptable.

come on. You know thats ridiculous. I coulda been spanked lots of times on that one alone. I guess a sleep over constitutes immorality, or worse. I guess people of the opposite sex, (or same where applicable) just cant help but jump each others bones huh? Sounds like the boyz in Krooklyn got a fetish or two.
The testimony of youths may be considered; it is up to
the elders to determine if the testimony has the ring of
    truth.

what the hell is a "ring of truth?

Is that a big olde circle jerk or what?

The testimony of unbelievers may also be considered, but
    it must be carefully weighed.

in my experience, outsiders were NEVER allowed to testify, nor would their evidence be acceptable.

If there are two or three witnesses to the same kind of
wrongdoing but each one is witness to a separate incident,
    their testimony can be considered.

good lord, what about the children? God this makes me sick.

Such evidence may be used to establish guilt, but it is
preferable to have two witnesses to the same occurrence
    of wrongdoing.

I just have to say, and as is evidenced by one of the comments on dateline in court about loosing their power of having people confess their sins, these guys just want all the power, the power of God himself to cast judgements, pass decisions, and ruin peoples lives and familys. And thats not even concidering all those people who commit suicide after being disfellowshipped or have a life time of mental and emotional problems because of being rejected, and handed over to Satan and the world.

The world has never been such a beautiful place to me, as it is now, now that I am out, and free of the ridiculousness I followed so blindly for a lifetime-40 years.
