To the lurker who infected me

I don't know who you are (well, not exactly!) but I sure know that you made me sick!

It was a very clever way of trying to get me 'off air' I guess, but, although it's cost me plenty, I'm still standing!

For the sake of my friends here, I guess I was caught off-guard, and in that split moment I got caught with a savage virus in my computer that's infected all my data files. After two attempts where I worked thru the night, I've stripped my computer (the one I use mostly) of all programs and data. All my work of 5 years gone! Are my backup disks infected? We're still checking.

The moral of the story is to be always vigilent with anti-virus checking and NEVER, EVER accept any e-mails from strangers.

So, to the 'person' who gave it to me, why did you do it? Was it because of devilment? Did you think it was funny? Or was it because you don't like this evil man who used to be in Bethel? Do you hate that much? So much for Jehovah's "loving organisation"!

Oh, and guess what? E-mails I've sent in business have caused another network to be infected. Thanks, mate.

You might want to look into non-Windows desktop software. I use Linux, and I'm totally unconcerned when viruses go around; I'm practically immune.

The Klez virus is making the rounds... And maybe some jerks are sending it on purpose to ex-JWs or Bill Bowen... but, I got it too, at least 15 times in the last 3 or 4 weeks... probably just because my private e-mail address is on so many different address books on so many computers that may have received the virus too...

Ozzie: Looks like you've been hit by Klez...more than likely at this point, it was really not anyone's fault. This virus, once it infects somebody, sends itself to everyone in the victim's address book, so the person probably didn't do it on purpose. But, you never know

:( that sux!!! I really enjoy reading your posts here. Don't understand how people can be so miserable. I suppose they put such horrible behaviour in the *THEOCRATIC WARFARE* category and go to sleep at night without a twinge in their non- existant consciences. PATHETIC!!!!!!!!

That's a good idea bono, about turning off the preview thing in outlook express. I just went and did that. I never would have even thought of that.

That really stinks. I've been hit with a bunch of infected emails over the last couple of weeks. At least some of them came from people totally unrelated to this board so paranoia about the Borg may be misplaced. I use my work e-mail address because I'm behind a firewall and so far nothing has made it into the system.
