Update on me

    Hi friends.

Lots going on in my life. I've been busy and thus post seldom these days.

My health -- My right leg is still giving me trouble but not nearly as bad as it was. I see a chiropractor once a week and that helps a great deal. My doctor has diagnosed me as moderately manic depressive and I have been on medication for the past month. I seem to be doing much better although I still have panicky feelings from time to time.

My jobs -- I don't really like working at Home Depot. They treat their employees like crap. I like my other job doing target market research for a trade association. Not sure if I will stay at Home Depot or not. Time will tell. I hate working every weekend.

School -- I made A's in Sociology and Calculus II. I am taking Health and Business Statistics this semester. Next quarter I rev up and take more classes and more Math.

    Hope all are well.

    Joel

Hi, Joel, good to hear from you and thanks for the update. Sounds like you're having a normal life... some good stuff, some bad, and hanging in there.

My doctor has diagnosed me as moderately manic depressive

Shocker! Well, don't make the mistake I see a lot of folks make, of taking the meds long enough to get to feeling good, and then deciding you're well and don't need them.

Congrats to you on your grades. I hope you're as proud as you have a right to be! And about Home Depot... the sad truth is, very few jobs are fun. Most of them are a drag. And the ratio of places that treat you badly to those that treat you well is about three to one, I'd say. It's part of life, man. Very few of us would stay at our jobs if we were somehow able to kick this food habit we're so hooked on.

    Love and best wishes,

    COMF

    Joelbear,

It's good to "see" you again. I've been wondering how you are doing.

I've worked for one of those major chain-store operations; it's corporate america at its best: take the "human" out of the equation. It's all about the money. Actually, it's all about the numbers, which are manipulated by the store manager, followed by more fiddling by the district manager, again by the whatever manager, etc.

You take care of yourself and know please that you are well regarded

    (((((((Joelbear, honey!))))))))

    I've missed you!

I'm glad you're getting relief from the chiropracter, but having to be adjusted once a week seems a bit much. Have you tried alternative therapies? If Hyghlander is still reading posts here, his friend Jim was talking about a non-invasive therapy that made his visits for pain relief an every sixth month (or MORE!!!) occasion. I will wrack my memory for the name....

COMF is so right on the "don't stop taking the meds when you feel better" angle. I am the guardian of the child of a manic depressive who continually does just that, and then when she starts feeling bad again she tries to self-medicate with drugs and/or alcohol! It's a very difficult disease to live with, so please, please, please take care of yourself and stick to the plan.

Sorry about the Home Depot job, but CONGRATULATIONS on your excellent college grades! You are working really hard with two jobs and school, too! I remember you like Math classes, so you have more fun to look forward to. Enjoy!

    Love,

    Hey Joel,

For many with your condition it's great to finally know what's wrong and that medication can help. Please listen to Comf about the medication. If you think you may want to stop taking your medication please consult with your PCP. Your Doc will instruct you on how to titrate off your meds so you won't crash as hard. Then, he may suggest an alternative medication. If your on the customary medication for your illness then definitely continue your medication through the ups and downs that are sure to continue to come your way. Remember, we all have good and bad days. Your new medication will only stabilize your moods; it won't cure all the ups and downs in your life.

Congratulations on those grades too! I miss your humor around here...LOL

PS.. Inform your Doc about your anxiousness and panic because a second medication may be what's in order. Many persons with your illness have several medications that work to alleviate symptoms.
