    Hi All,

Do any of you like bicycling? I just got back from a little ride around my part of town. There is hardly any traffic since no roads go anywhere from this part of town, the residential part that is. I rode about 4 miles and only two cars passed me.

I have a bike that I sold my brother back in 1972 when I moved to DC. I was over at his home last year and he gave it back to me. It's a great 12 speed. It's a french made bike. I can't spell the name but it's pronunced, Poo Joe, or something like that. When I was 40 I could ride 30 or 40 miles without getting tired out, but now at 66, about 6 or 7 will about do me in. I really don't know how much I should push my heart, so far no problems. I need to do it more often, as I'm about 60 lbs overweight. I bought this bike while still a JW and would ride it to work some days. It was about 6 miles from where I lived then, with some monster hills. It took 15 min. on my car and 30 min. on the bike. Any one else like bike riding?

I love bicycling! I haven't been able to ride since I had my kids though. I'm hoping to get a bike next year so I can join my husband on his rides. He is currently training for the STP (Seattle to Portland bicycle classic). It would be nice to ride with him instead of waiting at home!

I used to commute to work, about fifteen miles I think. It was a great way to get my workout done. My husband would ride with me in the morning and then I'd ride home alone in the evening. It was great!

    Have fun!

    Peugeot? Pronounced Pur-zcho

    They make cars too http://www.peugeot.com

I used to do a lot of cycling but once you get a car it's hard to resist nipping out in that instead. It would be nice to take the kids out on bikes but the roads are deadly round here - they seem to think painting a white line along part of the road makes a cycle path ...

I love mountain biking and have been doing it very regularly (3 x per week) for the last 12 + years. I live in the mountains and rarely see any humans during my rides, but frequently get treated to wildlife sightings. I never ride on paved roads as I don't like the chances of bike v. car. There are few activities that can rival bicycling for cardio fitness.

    Hi Simon,

Thanks for the help. Peugeot is correct. I still can't spell it without looking at your post. I think I gave $165 dollars for it in 1970. It's been ridden many miles but still is like new, except for a little rust on the crank.

Some timely advice from the FDS..........

*** g95 2/22 8 Coping With Menopause *** The book Women Coming of Age states that properly performed studio aerobics, walking, running, cycling and other aerobic sports, as well as weight-training, are thought to be especially good.

I cycled until a couple of years ago when I fell down the stairs and damaged a nerve in my leg. But for the 5 or 6 years before that I would do 70 - 100 KM rides around Montreal. Every year they have a Tour de L'Ile - a 70 km bike ride with 40,000 riders. They would close off city streets and give them to the cyclists. It was great. The first year I thought I was going to die. Whenever I wanted to give up I would see a little 4-yr-old ride by I just knew I couldn't quit.

I got to the point where I would cycle to the start - about 10 KM then do the tour and then cycle the 10 k home. Still amazes me

Hmmm maybe will haul my bile up from the basement and check the tires

I signed my 6 year old son up for BMX a month ago. he really enjoys it, and I [30 years old] have to get out on the track and show him how it's done. Great rush for me.

& now my 5 year old daughter went out to practice for the first time on wednesday; and of the two of them, I think she's going to be the Hot Dog on the track.

the great thing about it is that it really is a family event.

Sure beats the book study & the watchtower study I had to bear while I was growing up

I like bike riding. I've been riding for about a year myself as an adult. I'm 25, and I can ride about 40 miles comfortably in a day. One day I hope to be able to do the century. I live in the DC metro area where there's a lot of bikepaths and people on the roads are sorta used to seeing bikes. I ride the 4 miles one-way to work almost everyday.
