A little off topic for a "JW" discussion board, however it is interesting to see how some of the other cults operate. See the analysis at http://www.operatingthetan.com/google/
It appears that Church of Scientology has been pulling out all the stops to control their ranking in Google. Actually, this is now in the past, as things are mostly back to normal at Google, as the link above points out.
As an aside to the points made in the above link, it is interesting to note the amount of keyword-hit-advertising the Scientologists have at Google. Try a Google search for Scientology (http://www2.google.com/search?hl=en&q=scientology) and see what I mean (along the right side of the screen). I wonder if their advertising dollars helped to get the "opposing views" off the map.
I've got to hand it to CoS, they really know how to run a cult: use Information Technology to the max to drum up new recruits. The Watchtower isn't even in the same league when it comes to this tactic. The boys in Brooklyn are so lame in this regard, they even let the Canadian version of their precious "watchtower" domain get registered to ME, not them. Try it: just click on http://www.watchtower.ca / and see where you end up!
