    CAN YOU HELP?

There are approximately 1300 congregations in the UK. It would be useful for those who are working on various projects to have access to this list in an easy to use form. The simplest way of gathering the addresses and PO contact details is via the Charity Commission website.

Unfortunately, the site only yields a maximum of 500 alphabetical results [still not bad!] This means that I have been able to gain the contact details for all PO's in congregations from Aberaeron to Keighley.

Can you help to complete the list?

I'd like one volunteer for each letter from K to Z. (Let's be fair and lump Q&R, V&W and X,Y&Z together.) The first respondant to this thread takes 'K', the next 'L' and so on.

Now, grab a UK road atlas and sit in front of your pc with a big mug of coffee and go to http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk/registeredcharities/search.asp?position=1&oparea=K

Let's say you're the first volunteer and you have picked the letter K. Using the atlas, go through the alphatbetical list of towns and villages at the back and enter each name starting with 'k' into the website search box together with the word 'jehovah'. Use no punctuation at all!

e.g. kidderminster jehovah or kettering jehovah

When you get your results email them to me at [email protected] and I'll make sure they get to the right people. It will probably be easiest for you to send your search results pages by email. ( File >> Send >> Page by E-mail..)

A little bit of effort can go a long way - there is no reason why we cannot do something similar for other EU countries or the US but let's take one step at a time.

Lastly, thanks for the many enquiries about the Do-Not-Call site - it will be back online next week with lots of scope for your involvement, more later.

There's a "Search for charities by the area in which they operate" link. Wouldn't using that be easier?

I'm happy to help - I think maybe Derek's suggestion may be easier as if you type London Jehovah it brings up 11 pages worth and there are loads of other places beginning with L. Let me know what you want me to do!

Actually I've just tried doing a few searches that way and it doesnt seem to find much. I look for my old congregation and it didnt find it - even though it is on there.
