Movies, or the videos of the Mr Bean series?

Which video are you referring to (as in the title)?

I'm a Mr Bean fan, but I've never noticed the words in any singing in the episodes, or the Mr Bean movie that came out in 97.

I have the movie "Bean" and never noticed that.

My sister has a set and I don't remember any singing on those either...then again my memory is not what is used to be.

I own the VHS "Best of Bean"....I know what muffled singing you are talking about, but never paid that close attention to the words. Hmm...gonna have to watch it again this weekend.

The series are so much better than that stupid Mr. Bean movie....yuck!

let me clear this up a little,

it IS the series, not the movie.

the singing preceeds every episode on the tape, usually 2 per tape.

the series we have is called another box of beans.

I know the bit you mean Zev.

We have the 'red' and 'blue' series videos and my kids picked up on the Jehovah vocals immediately. It's in the opening sequence when Mr Bean is literally 'thrown into the spotlight'. If you've got the videos you'll know what I mean - don't know about the movie though.

I believe the signing is a British hymn. We had several British couples in our KH and we'd watch Mr. Bean together. They explained to us that many of the older Church of England hymns used the name Jehovah. Later updates removed it, according to what they told us.

    Maybe Englishman can verify this.

BTW: I love Mr. Bean as well as Blackadder. In fact most all British comedy with the exception of Benny Hill. That one they should have kept from exporting.

We had a CO that looked just like Mr. Bean. He was a really nice guy(I suppose). This was the time when things started going to crap for our family. My hubby was the PO at the time. This is when I found out that COs don't always know what's going on.

This was in 98'. Guess what circuit he was sent to! It was the 'Othello' area. I can just see this timid little dude having to walk into this garbage. Just in case I am wrong, I apologize. His name was Rocky Hyatt. He and his wife were originally from the Appalacian Mt. area (NC, VA).

I would look at him while he was giving a talk & could hardly contoll my giggles. My kids would start gigggling and my Hubby would keep doing the little 'kick your foot thingy, to get me to stop. Yes, this is one of my fond memories of the KH.

The Theme song words are in Latin; Here is what they mean...

At the begining of the show; "Ecce homo qui est farba" (repeat) --"Behold the Man that is Bean"

At the end of Part one : "Finis partis primae" -- "End Part One"

At the beginning of Part Two : "Pars Secunda" -- "Part Two"

End Credits : "Vale homo qui est farba"--"Farewell to the Man who is Bean"

Dress up any silly words in Latin, and it sounds profound!
