I was just watching this you tube video regarding the liability that elders put them selves under when handling child abuse matters.

So my question is. Dose anybody know what happened to the elders involved not just in this case but in all the cases Wt finds itself getting embroiled in. How did the public react to them after the story broke. Did they crumble to the pressure of public opinion. Leave town go into hiding or get beaten up. I'm just curious.

When I'm in a cynical mood, I'm inclined to think that all this does is confirm to them just how f**ked-up they already suspected JWs were.

I don't think that the Elders in question are in any doubt that they will be viewed as hypocritical scum, for "obeying orders" from the Org. I'm pretty certain some active J.W.'s outwith the area would have contacted them to let them know what a disgusting excuse for Christians they were!

Why did they abandon their so-called "Bible-based" principles which they cited to justify their refusal to share information with the police? It was almost certainly because the Britain Branch legal team told them the day before they were summoned to testify by the judge herself, that if they remained silent, they would all be sent to jail for contempt of court/obstruction/perverting the course of justice, thereby bringing far greater notoriety to the Org!

Those low-life Elders will reap what they've sown, and their families can wallow in their spiritual heads' stench! Sadly, every active member of the congregation will also get it in the neck - thanks to the Pharisees in their area.

I'm probably going to get shot for saying this but in some ways I can feel some sympathy for them. Getting caught up in a mess that really they shouldn't of been.

Elders, as trustees of charities as they more often than not are, here in the UK are responsible for their actions under charity law. Those of Moston,. Manchester are currently the subjects of a Charity Commission statutory inquiry, and those at Barry congregation, Wales are facing an operational compliance case. In the past, the Charity Commission has tried to work a little more behind the scenes over issues around abuse and cover-ups and individual congregations.

Being a trustee of a charity carries legal obligations. If elders aren't aware of that when becoming a trustee, then they're demonstrating that they shouldn't be one in the first place.
