It was good to read details of the letter campaign from Silentlambs protesting about the pedophile issue, and I'm sure it will bear some fruit.

In any type of marketing campaign you will usually get a reponse rate of around 1-2% so if this is true here then, yes, at least some will take heed. In order to be more effective we need to do this more often. Take TV for example - you have to see a commercial several times before it get's stuck in the mind so to speak. Maybe more letter campaigns can be undertaken.

As a suggestion - we get enough material posted on here and some of it can be put together as a monthly newsletter (the quality stuff not the fluff). This wouldbe similar to Comments From the Friends.

It would be great to if we can get hold of new publications from the WTS as they arrive, especially KM's and BOE letters, as well as the latest magazines. How about scanning them onto here?

Just a thought. What do you think?

There's always room for another newsletter. See the Free Christians issue for today at the link below. Posting whole KMs etc on the internet could make you subject to a copyright infringement lawsuit and enormous fine. More letter writing would be a good idea but send some to non-elders too and include an internet website address or two where the readers can go to for more information. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jahchristian/message/271

Just some feedback on the campaign.

My spies in our local congregation have told me that the elder body received the letter and have dismissed it as rubbish.

This was to be expected. The point is, they have read it - THE SEEDS HAVE BEEN PLANTED.

Who knows what may trigger the germination of these seeds of doubt in the future.

One person, I think is was Belbab, suggested that one measure of the letter's impact would be the number of hits at Silentlambs, since the Silentlambs website address is given in the letter. I recorded some data in this regard. The two days before the first letters arrived, the hits averaged about 400. The four days after that, they averaged 460 per day. Last Wednesday, there were about 600 hits. During the last two days, the average dropped down to 160. I think this is due to the holidays - people are out doing stuff. I would suspect that hits will increase next Monday when people get back to work and can check Silentlambs in private. While I do not have any base line data for activity at Silentlambs before a week ago last Wednesday, the data I do show looks very promising.
