What happened to the page summaries in NWT?

I was recently discussing the REAL 10 commandments in Ex 34. As I recall the old NWT had topic summaries at the top of each page. Theoretically to summarize the page and help you find things. I've seen other Bibles do this too. At the top of the pages for Ex 20, they used to say "The 10 Commandments" or something like that.

I checked their new Bible and I don't see those. Or at least from the PDF download I did a year or so ago. Are these in the paper copy but not the PDF?

Any speculation as to why they might be gone?

At least in this case, since they're gone from Ex 20, it saves their but on identifying the wrong 10 commandments. I also noticed that Exodus 34 now calls them the ten commandments as other bibles do. It used to call them the ten words.

The "running headings," as one Circuit Overseer called them, are missing from the print edition too (the latest Revised NWT).

Well, it fits in with jw philosophy of never considering the context. Pulling a scripture here, a scripture there, without considering overall theme of the page is so effective for proving weird stuff!

They're not missing. They moved them. They're at the beginning of each book.

For instance, if you're looking for the 10 commandments, turn to the first page for the book of Exodus, and you'll see a basic outline for all of exodus

The reason they said they did this was to expedite translation. Since verses in different languages may not appear on the same page as the English version, it was easier to remove the headings from each page and put them at the beginning of each book.
